What Is Tailgating?
Tailgating is when an unauthorized person follows an authorized person into a secure or restricted area without the consent of the authorized person. So, he sneaks into the organization without the awareness of anyone within the organization. Tailgating can even happen if an employee forgets their badge to enter the office, or they may try to access restricted areas within the organization without proper authorization.
What Is Piggybacking?
Piggybacking is when an unauthorized person follows an authorized person into a secure or restricted area with the consent of the authorized person. When you hold a locked door open for someone, it may seem like a polite gesture and something you would do without thinking about; however these actions have the potential to cause significant damage to a business. So, you are making it easy for any unauthorized person to get in without any difficulty in the organization.
If an unauthorized user gains access, their intent could be anything, for example, theft of devices, access to the organization’s internal systems, and other acts that could result in financial loss and damage to the reputation of an organization.
How To Prevent Tailgating and Piggybacking?
- Provide physical security awareness and training for your employees;
- Have a clear policy with guidelines and procedures about the risks associated with tailgating and piggybacking;
- Be alert of anyone following you through a door and don’t hold the door open for anyone ;
- Report any suspicious person to the security personnel;
- If you find a door that does not close or shut properly, then report it to security personnel.
Security is the concern of everyone within an organization. Never let anyone into the building without proper authorization. Giving unidentified and unauthorized people into the office is like allowing a stranger into your house.
Aside from the fact that sure there are physical breaches in organizations nobody really thinks about the spiritual aspects of these problems that mirror the physical problems. For example a spirit body projected from a person’s physical body can infiltrate another person’s physical body without them being remotely aware of that and from there it can result in mental information about the person being fished from there physical brain, body and soul (non transferable) if the person doing that sort of infiltration in any type of organization, collective hierarchy just an individual person.
